AKS Ministry Of Education Continues Resumption Monitoring ,Urges Teachers And Students To Focus On The New Term.

As part of efforts to ensure compliance with the resumption of academic activities for the Second Term, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet, led a team on monitoring visits to selected primary and secondary schools across Akwa Ibom State.

At Eastern Secondary School, Odot, Nsit Atai, the Commissioner was warmly received by the school’s principal, Mrs. Nsetip Ime Akpan. During the visit, the Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the level of seriousness exhibited by the teachers, as normal academic activities were already in full swing.

However, during a visit to Methodist Central School, Odot, Nsit Atai, Mrs. Etiebet expressed displeasure upon discovering that a head teacher had engaged learners in picking waterleaf during school hours. The head teacher was issued a query, with a directive to submit a written response to the Permanent Secretary’s office by Thursday, 9th January 2025.

Representing the Commissioner at some of the visits, the Director of Secondary and Higher Education, Dr. Anietie Ikot, reminded teachers of the need for dedication to their duties. He emphasized the importance of aligning their efforts with the ARISE Agenda of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, PhD, particularly as it relates to improving education standards in the state.
