Nigerian Navy Accounts And Budget Branch Seminar 2024.

Day 1 of the Nigerian Navy (NN) Accounts and Budget (A&B) Seminar 2024 was held at the Admiralty Conference Centre Naval Dockyard Limited, Victoria Island, Lagos on Thursday, 25 July 2024.

The Seminar’s theme is “Optimizing Nigerian Navy Non-Public Fund Opportunities in a Dynamic Economic Environment: Nigerian Navy Personnel in Focus”

The Special Guest of Honour (SGOH), the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, who was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans Naval Headquarters, Rear Admiral Joseph Daniel Akpan applauded the Chief of Accounts and Budget (CAB), Rear Admiral Omotola Olukoya for organising the Seminar and reiterated the need for capacity building of Nigerian Navy Accounts and Budget personnel.

Rear Admiral KO Komolafe (Rtd), a former Chief of Accounts and Budget, delivered the keynote paper titled “Non-Public Fund Opportunities and Personnel Welfare: Imperatives for the Nigerian Navy” on Day 1 of the seminar, which set the tone for the Day’s discussion. This was followed by 3 Strategic Sessions focused on financial imperatives leveraging non-public fund entities in the Navy.
These Sessions deliberated on the financial imperatives of the entities that generate non-public funds in the NN. Subsequently, suggestions on measures that could be adopted to enhance their profitability were made.

The 2024 A&B Seminar is the second in the series, as the maiden edition was held in 2012. Over 250 participants from the NN, sister services, banks and other financial institutions were in attendance. Other participants were former Chiefs of Accounts and Budget of the Nigerian Navy, Principal Staff Officers of the Naval Headquarters, Flag Officers Commanding, serving Chiefs of Accounts and Budget of the Defence Headquarters, Nigerian Army and Air Force, retired and serving officers.

Day 1 ended with the CAB’s exclusive Durbar with Ratings of the Branch.
