Apapa Customs Solicits King’s Support To Meet The N2.3trn Revenue Target.

The Customs Area Controller, Apapa Command, Comptroller Babatunde Olomu  has keyed in into the  Nigerian Customs Service(NCS) management Community Relationship strategy ,  as he paid  homage   to  the Ojora of Ijora land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulfatai Aremu Aromire, in his palace, even as he used the occasion , to intimate the Royal Father of the Command’s N2.3 trillion revenue target, for 2024.

While speaking at the King’s Palace , Olomu requested for Oba Abdulfatai’s support, in achieving the command’s  revenue target of N2.3 trillion,  as well as  congratulated the King on his recent celebration of thirty years on the throne.

He said his visit  was to extend the frontiers of  the customs community relationship agenda of the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, adding that Customs Community Relationship forms one of the basis, through  which the Service interacts with the environment.

Apart from this , Olomu disclosed that he has also  emphasized since his assumption of office,  that he was  going to strengthen the relationship between customs and  other stakeholders.

Comptroller Olomu   disclosed that this is why since he  took over four weeks ago as the Customs Area Controller of Apapa Command, he felt it was necessary to visit to  consolidate on the CGC’s policy thrust of ensuring a solid relationship with the  key stakeholders.

Intimating the Royal  Highness  on the fiscal policies of the government, he stated  that while the Service is expected to bring a sum of N5.1trillion into the coffers of the government in 2024, the Apapa Command is to be responsible for generating N2.3 trillion  of the sum.

He said that as major critical stakeholder in the community, the Royal Highness reserves the right to know about this , and to ensure that the  cordial relationship that had existed between the customs and the community continues to improve.

In response, the Oba of Ijora, His Royal Majesty, Oba Abdulfatai Aremu Aromire, Ojora of Ijora land, appreciated the CAC’s visit to His Palace, adding that it the first time in the last thirty years that a senior  customs officer will visit him.

The monarch subsequently rained prayers on Comptroller Olomu, saying his tenure would be  successful,  since has learnt the ways of the elders .

The King however said that the Palace has   been cooperating with the customs,and  other  security agencies even before the visit of the Comptroller  , assuring that the Palace will give Olomu  hundred per cent cooperation.source:marine&Economy.com.
