EASTER LUNCHEON: COAS Commends Troops’ Resilience, Sues For More Committment And Professionalism.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja in the spirit of Easter Celebration, has commended troops for their resilience and committment towards keeping the country safe and secured in the face of myriads of security challenges.

The COAS handed down the commendation in his Easter goodwill message, delivereed on Monday 1 April 2024, in Maimalari Cantonment by the Theatre Commander Operation HADIN KAI, Major General Waidi Shaibu during Easter Luncheon Celebration organised in honour of troops of OPHK said, “I congratulate officers and soldiers for witnessing the year 2024 Easter Celebration and urge you all to continue to espouse the values of love, peace and sacrifice in the discharge of our constitutional responsibilities”.

He said this year’s easter celebration was unique in that it coincided with the Ramadan Fast. It allowed Christians and Muslims alike to reflect on God’s abundant grace on our nation.

He thereafter reiterated his effort in terms of improved quality training and equipment, towards combating the myriads of security threats confronting the nation, adding that we have recorded tremendous successes in various operations at home and abroad. He further said, while we continue to express our profound gratitutde to the Command-in-Chief for his continuous support and the confidence reposed on the Army at this period of our nation’s history, I wish to reaffirm our unalloyed loyalty in the defence of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and our Fatherland.

Gen Lagbaja further charged troops to remain more committed, determined and focused in ensuring the total defeat of insurgents, marauding bandits, and all other forms of external and internal aggressions disturbing the peace of our country.

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Acting General Officer Commading (GOC) 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 OPHK, Brigadier General Abubakar Haruna harpsed on the significance of Easter, which he said espoused the ideals of the season that has fostered espirit de Corp amongst our troops, which in no small measure boosts the fighting spirit in the battle filed.

In appreciation of the immense support of the federal and state governments, the GOC said troops will continue to do their best to ensure all forms insurgency within the North East were contained in no distant time. He further expressed his gratitude to sister security services and agencies for the synergy and collaboration under the auspices of the Joint Task Force (JTF) North East OPHK.

The luncheon which was graced by Component, Formation and Unit Commanders, featured symbolic serving of the Wounded-in-Action troops and group photograph.
