Nigeria Customs Service Reflect On Pension Increment For Retired Officers.

The Nigeria Customs Service( NCS) revealed that it give some thought to Pension Increment For Retired officers.
The Comptroller of Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi made this known to newsmen during a sendforth/reunion event for retired senior officers on Saturday in Abuja.
Adewale Adeniyi revealed that,the Nigeria Customs Service(NCS )will start a review of retirees welfare, digitize its verification exercise for retirees and establish a pension board.
According to him “I am reminded of the profound African proverb that states, “A tree without roots
cannot stand.” This reunion is our way of re-establishing and strengthening those
roots that connect the past, present, and future of the Nigeria Customs Service.he said.
“They say, “It is never too late to start,” and today we embark on a journey
to bridge the gap between the vibrant energy of our current officers and the
seasoned expertise of our retired colleagues.he said.
“I want to challenge our retired officers gathered here today to not only
benefit from this platform but to see it as an opportunity to give back to the
organization that has been a significant part of your lives for over three decades.
Your journey in the NCS is a shared experience that uniquely qualifies you to
contribute to its growth and development.he stressed.
“Your support is crucial in managing the
challenges the Service faces today, as you understand the nuances and intricacies
of the journey, we all undertook.he said.
“The importance of this connection
is evident in various successful organizations that have harnessed the wealth of
experience from their retirees. Some successful instances include:
a. Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) – Nigeria. Shell
Nigeria maintains a network of retired professionals who are often called
upon to provide consultancy services.
Furthermore, Adeniyi disclosed ongoing discussions with the Minister of Finance to champion a bill establishing a dedicated Pension Scheme, stating, “This strategic initiative reflects foresight in securing the financial future of leaders within the Nigeria Customs Service.”
“Their wealth of experience
contributes significantly to the successful execution of projects and the
mentoring of younger professionals.he said.
“The bedrock of motivation within our esteemed organization has
undeniably been the unwavering focus on welfare, and your distinguished efforts
during your tenures are vividly reflected in the gazettes.He noted.
“As we bring together different generations of Management Staff, we
acknowledge the tremendous wealth of knowledge that resides within this room
and the untapped resource that retired officers represent.Adeniyi said.
