ENGR. PROF. SAMSON DUNA RECEIVED AN ICONIC AWARD AS INTEGRITY ICON OF NIGERIA (IION).

On Wednesday 23rd February 2022, delegations from the Centre for Ethics and Self Value Orientation; a Lokoja based international anti corruption NGO that majored in exposing corruption and promoting ethical leadership and ethical education amongst citizens, paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute to honour the DG/CEO, Directors as well as Heads of Department with awards of excellence.

Ambassador Salisu Mustapha , Head of Corporate Affairs of the Centre in his opening remark stated that the centre has about 1,500 secret informant spread across the country, saddled with the responsibility of annually conducting secret and independent assessments of the activities of public officials, individuals and corporate organizations through the massive distribution of questionnaires to conduct public opinion, project sites visitation without the consent of the subject of assessment; with all these, they’re well equipped to achieve their targets.

In his mission statement, the founder of the centre, Ethics Ambassador Prince Saliu Musa Yakubu stated that they came to positively affect the service delivery of NBBRI because they have investigated the DG and the institute at large and have been found worthy of praise.

The DG was honoured with the certificate of Ethical Leadership and Conduct Compliance because his character and conduct was rated high haven passed all integrity test.

The activities of NBBRI was also rated 83%, hence the award of Corporate Certificate of Credence was issued stating that no contractor or secret corruption investigators have found NBRRI wanting in service delivery.

The DG was also awarded Gold medalist in Public Administration, another Gold medal to the institute as one of the best among other government agencies.

The DG was honoured with the prestigious title; Integrity Icon of Nigeria (I.I.O.N) which is further backed by letter of authority.

The Directors and Heads of department were also issued certificates of excellence.

The founder emphasized that what connects him with NBRRI is service to humanity.

In the same way, the representative of the national president of Research Institute Games Association of Nigeria (RIGAN), the national PRO of the association Mr. Amos Tabe on behalf of the association presented the 2021 RIGAN games posters and fliers to the DG formally informing him of the preparation of the forthcoming games festival to be hosted by Raw Materials Research and Development Council in March 2022 in Abuja.

While presenting the fliers and posters to the DG, Mr. Amos stated that the DG has distinguished himself as a man of goodwill and has lead NBRRI to a perfect and successful hosting of the 2019 edition of the games in OTA. In respect to this, the DG was presented a prestigious medal as the Life Patron of RIGAN.

Responding to these honours and awards, Prof. Duna expressed his heartfelt joy to both organizations and dedicated the awards to all staff of NBRRI stating that without the hard work and selfless Services of the staff of the institute, such honour wouldn’t have come his way. He then encouraged all staff not to relent in their good services for the betterment of the institute and development of the country.

Prof. Duna also, appreciated the Centre for Ethics and RIGAN for their awards and promised both organs that NBRRI will never betray the trust placed on its shoulder.
