Warning: You Can Go To Prison If You Buy Pre-Registered SIM -NCC.
The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has warned telecommunications consumers in the country over the patronage of pre-registered Subscriber Identification Module (SIM).
NCC also warned that such patronage of pre-registered SIM could land the consumer in prison, insisting that it’s a criminal offence.
A public notice available on the official Facebook page of the commission confirmed this warning.
“The recent routine enforcement activities to sanitise the industry of criminal elements, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) arrested no fewer than five suspected individuals for allegedly engaging in fraudulently registering and selling Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards.
The operation was carried out by a joint team from the Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement Department of the Commission, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 in the Wuse area of Abuja.
NCC also decried the continuous patronage of use and sale of pre-registered Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) cards in the country.source:itrealms.
