OLAIFA, Eegungboun And Awoso Join APC.
The trio of Hon. Olaifa Jimoh Aremu (OJA), House of Representatives member representing Egbado North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency, Hon. Adeyanju Adegoke Awoso, member representing Isokan State Constituency and Hon. Eegungboun Haruna, member representing Ketu State constituency were earlier today received formally into the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the leadership of the party at the local government headquarters, Ayetoro.
The three lawmakers were hitherto members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), the political party’s platform upon which they won elections into both National and State Assembly respectively.
It will be recalled that the minority whip of the State House of Assembly, who is representing Imeko Afon, Hon. Jemili Akingbade was also received into the APC from ADC at his local government few days earlier.
In his speech titled “OUR REASON TO JOIN THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS IS A CHILD OF NECESSITY”, Hon. Olaifa submitted that “….As I address this august gathering, the party has since been enmeshed in seemingly intractable crises that have defied all entreaties. Several attempts by me and several other people of good conscience, especially my colleagues at the National Assembly have proved abortive. Sometimes early last year, the National leadership of the Party dissolved the executive leadership of the party at the States level and in a coup-like manner unilaterally appointed a Caretaker Committee whose primary purpose according to the National Chairman was to unite all dissenting voices. Unfortunately, the committee has been antithetical to the purposes for which it was established, most especially in my State.”
The Yewa North local government chairman of African Democratic Congress (ADC), Chief Jackson Isikalu also led the entire party membership into the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the occasion.
Some of the dignitaries that witnessed the massive movement include, Hon. Babatunde Bankole (Local Government Caretaker Chairman), Elder Olu Agemo (Local Government Chairman of Elders Council, APC), Hon. Jemili Akingbade (Member, State House of Assembly, Imeko Afon), Basorun Bisiriyu Popoola, Hon. Sunday Kojeku, Dr Kunle Isiaq Salako, Overseer Adeleke, Hon. Haruna Ogunsola, Alh. Lamina Elegbede, Chief Theophilus Adeniji, Hon. Olawale Bankole, Hon. Bode Edun, Chief Mrs Adeleke Titilayo, Mrs Elizabeth Adegoke, Elder Emmanuel Alase, Chief Mrs Maria Kojeku etc
