Sven-Goran Eriksson: Former England Manager Dies Aged 76.

Sven-Goran Eriksson, the first foreign coach to manage the England national team, has passed away at the age of 76.

In a statement, Eriksson’s children, Lina and Johan, said: “Our father, Sven-Goran Eriksson, fell asleep peacefully at his home in Sweden this morning. He had bravely fought his illness for a long time, but it has now come to an end.”

Career Highlights

Eriksson led England to the quarter-finals of the 2002 and 2006 World Cups, as well as the 2004 European Championship. He was appointed England manager in 2001 and held the position until 2006.

Gratitude and Appreciation

In a statement earlier this year, Eriksson expressed his gratitude for the support he received after revealing his serious illness. He said: “I’ve had the best job in the world and I was happy every day for long periods. It’s been fantastic… I get to hear [these kind words] while I’m alive and I’m incredibly grateful for that.”

Family’s Thanks

Eriksson’s children added: “We thank everyone for these positive memories and your support during his illness. We hope that you will remember Svennis as the good and positive person he always was, both in public and at home with us.”
