Kogi State First Lady Commits To TB Eradication Efforts.

Kogi State’s First Lady, Sefinat Ododo, has pledged to utilize her position to combat the scourge of tuberculosis in the state. She made this commitment during the launch of the “Stop TB Partnership Nigeria” initiative, in collaboration with the Kogi State Ministry of Health, at the Lugard House in Lokoja.
Mrs. Ododo emphasized the importance of raising awareness and ensuring effective treatment for TB, stating that collective efforts can drive home the message that tuberculosis is preventable, treatable, and curable.
She expressed gratitude to partners, stakeholders, healthcare professionals, and communities for supporting the initiative and called for commitment, focus, and determination to make a difference.
As the newly appointed ‘Stop TB Champion for Kogi State’, Mrs. Ododo urged wives of local government chairmen to serve as LGA TB champions, promising to remain a model and dedicate herself to curbing the TB scourge in the state.
The First Lady advised individuals to undergo testing if they experience persistent coughing for over two weeks, ensuring early diagnosis and treatment.
She commended Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her leadership as Global and National Stop TB champion, and her efforts to raise awareness and minimize the treatable disease.
Kogi’s Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adams Abdulazeez, highlighted Governor Ahmed Ododo’s investments in the health sector, including primary healthcare center revitalization, and his determination to expand TB diagnostics and treatment services across the state.
Abdulazeez emphasized the importance of early detection and proper treatment, urging individuals with persistent coughs to get tested.
