FRESH UPDATE FROM DHQ: We Must Defeat Terrorists At All Times.
The Nigeria Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has said that Terrorists must be defeated at all times, this is to deter them from harming Nigerians.
The Director, Defence Media Operations
(DDMO) Major General Edward Buba Made this known to newsmen at a press briefing on
the ongoing military operations against banditry, kidnapping,oil-theft,terrorism
among others.
According to him”
Troops are simultaneously fighting in various theatres across the country to deal with the various threat therein. The aim is clear, and it is to find and destroy the terrorist and their cohorts whenever they maybe hiding in order to ensure their enduring defeat. The defeat of these terrorist group is non negotiable as it would deny them to terrorize or hurt citizens of this country.
- Troops conducted offensive operations during the month ranging ambushes, raids, fighting patrols and other covert operations. Tactically, whenever there is a clash between troops and terrorist on the ground. Troops clearing win in the fire fight, though sadly in certain operations casualties are sustained . However, each and every engagement ends with troops victory, with several dead or surrendered terrorist in every location.
- Similarly , air assets conducted aggressive air flights during the period under review. Upon confirmation of terrorist presence and the movement of terrorist commanders and their foot soldiers. The targets are acquired and fighter jets scrambled to carry out major bombarding raids on significant terrorist enclave.
- The terrorist leaders enclaves engaged include that of terrorist
Nasanda and his loyalist in Zurmi LGA of Katsina State. Also, on 13 April 2024, 3 Senior terrorist commanders (Ali Dawud, Bakura Fallujah and Mallam Ari) were neutralized at Kolleram Village along Lake Chad. - Additionally, on 15 April 2024, the enclave of terrorist commander Babaru in Kankara LGA of Katsina State was destroyed. Similarly, on 19 Apr 24, the terrorist hideout belonging to a senior terrorist commander Kamilu Buzaru’s in Danmusa LGA of Katsina State was decimated. Then, On 20 April 2024, the gathering of senior terrorist commander Ado Ailero and Kamilu Buzaru’s in Danmusa LGA of Katsina State was disrupted by air strikes. Several terrorist combatants and the Commanders were neutralized in the air strikes.
- Other terrorist Commanders engaged by air strikes include that of Mallam Yadee at Mariga LGA of Niger State. Then, the Enclave of Abdullahi Nasanda and Mallam Tukur in Zurmi and Gusau LGAs of Zamfara State. Thereafter, is the Enclave of Mallam Umar and several other commanders located in the Alawa Forest area of Niger State. Furthermore is Bello Turji’s Camp in Kagara Forest located between Shinkafi in Zamfara and Isa LGA in Sokoto. All the surviving terrorist Commanders and leaders are walking corpses as we would get them, sooner than later.
- The synchronised strikes between the ground and air forces during the period under review resulted in over 715 terrorist neutralized. During the
process troops arrested
146 persons and rescued 465 kidnapped hostages. Furthermore, troops recovered 937 assorted weapons, 23,034 assorted ammunitions and denied the oil theft of an estimated sum over #2 bn (N2,572,397,190.00) only. - Breakdown for the month of February includes and is not limited to the following: 495 AK47 rifles, 190 locally fabricated guns, 43 pump action guns, 151 dane guns, 11,549 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 6,722 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 511 rounds of 9mm and 941 live cartridges.
- Others are 2,563,335 litres of stolen crude oil, 254,620 litres of illegally refined AGO, 1,050 litres of DPK and 8,000 litres of PMS amongst other item.
- Overall, the armed forces is building and maintaining the momentum against the terrorist and their cohorts across the country. Troops are conscious and are not loosing sight of importance of momentum, when it comes to fighting such vicious adversaries.
- The current situation depict a a strain of tactical achievements in degrading the terrorist by dismantling most of the terrorist infrastructure in the NE, killing majority of the combatants, killing a lot of their senior combatants. It must be noted that, many of the terrorist commanders as well have been taken off the battlefield.
- Ongoing operations have suppressed the terrorist and prevented them from achieving their strategic objectives. Troops have equally denied the terrorist freedom of action and disrupted their actives, thereby reducing their effectiveness. Nevertheless, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done to rid the environment of terrorist and the military is not resting on its oars.

REPORT ON ONGOING MILITARY OPERATIONS BY THE ARMED FORCES OF NIGERIA AS AT 2 MAY 2024
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION HADIN KAI (NORTH EAST)
- Troops of Operation HADIN KAI recorded the following activities during the period under review; Conducted offensive , received surrendered terrorists members that escaped from their enclaves, surrendering of BH/ISWAP terrorists fighters and theirs families, arrested terrorists logistics suppliers and informants, rescued terrorists family members and conducted fighting operations to Bama and Gwoza, LGAs of Borno State.
- Details as follows:
a. Offensive Operation. On 22 April 2024, troops in conjunction with Hybrid Forces conducted offensive operations to BH/ISWAP terrorists enclaves in Damboa LGA of Borno State. During the operation, troops neutralized 14 terrorists while other fled with gunshots wounds. Troops rcovered 12 AK47 rifles, 3 dane guns, 2 fabricated guns, 302 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 106 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammo, one Mowag APC, one canter truck and one TCV.
b. Surrender of Escapees. On 22 and 23 April 2024, a total of 72 BH/ISWAP terrorists combatant and family members comprising 12 male adults, 22 female adults and 38 children surrendered to troops in Bama, Dikwa and Gwoza LGAs of Borno State.
c. Surrender of BH/ISWAP/JAS Terr Fighter. On 28 April 2024, one suspected BH/ISWAP/JAS combatant terrorists fighter surrendered to troops in Mafa LGA of Borno State with one AK 47 rifle, 4 AK 47 rifle magazines, 16 rounds of 7.62 mm special ammo, one mag pouch vest and 3 mobile phones.
d. Arrest of Terrorists Logistics Suppliers/Informant On 24 April 2024 in separate operations, troops responded to HUMINT and arrested 4 BH/ISWAP terrorists logistics suppliers/informant in Gubio and Mobbar LGAs of Borno State. Troops recovered one vehicle 43 bags and 6 cartons of fish.
e. Arrest of Suspected ISWAP/JAS Terr Log Informant/ Collaborator Suppliers. Between 26 – 30 April 2024 in separate operations, troops conducted fighting patrol to Kukawa, Mobbar, Damboa, Kaga, Biu, Damaturu, Geidam and Minchika LGAs of Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States. During the operations troops arrested 11 criminals and recovered 3 pairs of wood land cam uniforms, one vehicle loaded with 15 bags of fertilizer, 3 motorcycles, 7 mobile phones, and the sum of N121, 95000.00) only.
f. Rescue of BH/ISWAP/JAS Terr Family Members. On 26 April 2024, troops in Ngala LGA of Borno State while on fighting patrol rescued 12 BHT/ISWAP/JAS family members comprising 4 adult females and 8 children.
g. Fighting Patrol. On 28 and 29 April 2024, troops in conjunction with Hybrid Forces conducted fighting patrol to in Bama and Gwoza, LGAs of Borno State and made contact with BH/ISWAP terrorists. During the operations, trool neutralized 9 terrorists and rescued 17 victims. Troops recovered 6 AK47 rifles, one PKT gun, 2 dane guns, 326 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 3 mobile phones, 4 motorcycles among others.
- Air Interdiction. Following intelligence and confirmatory ISR of massing up of terrorists with gun trucks, motorcycles and other logistics with intention of ambush on troops. The air component of Operation HADIN KAI with NA aeroson UAV on 15 and 16 April 2024 conducted multiple close air support and air interdiction. Accordingly, the targets were acquired and attacked with bombs and rockets. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralized and their gun trucks as well as other logistics destroyed. Additionally, further exploitation by surface troops led to recovery of one hilux vehicle and one 105 pack howitzer.
SUMMARY
- Overall, troops of Operation HADIN KAI neutralized 43 terrorists, arrested 52 suspects and rescued 39 kidnappers hostages. Troops recovered 37 AK47 rifles, one PKT guns, 9 dane guns, 2 fabricated guns, 788 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 206 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, one Mowag APC, one canter truck and one TCV, 9 motorcycles, 2 bicycles, 16 mobile phones and the sum of N121,950.00 only amongst others.
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION SAFE HAVEN (NORTH CENTRAL)
- Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN recorded the following during the period under review; arrested criminals, conducted raid operation, arrested kidnappers, foiled armed robbery attack, foiled kidnapping incident and conducted fighting patrol to Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau State.
- Details are as follows:
b. Arrest of Criminals.
(1) On 24 April 2024, Following information on activities of cattle rustlers in Riyom LGA of Plateau State. Troops raid area and arrested11 criminals.
(2) On 24 April 2024, troops arrested a wanted notorious fraudster, Mr Jonathan Sanda in Jos South LGA of Plateau State.
b. Raid Operations. On 26 April 2024, troops in conjunction with NDLEA personnel raided a suspected drug peddlers’ hideout in Jos N LGA of Plateau State and arrested one Ozomene Ajonu. Troops recovered one fabricated Double Barrel Rifle.
c. Arrest of Kidnapper.
(1) On 28 April 2024, troops led by one arrested kidnapper to recovered weapons at their hideout in Jema’a LGA of Kaduna State. Following a search troops recovered one fabricated Rifle, 15 rounds of 7.62 mm Special ammo as well as one desert camo uniform. Thereafter, the criminal attempted to disarm one of the soldier in a bid to escape troops neutralized the criminal.
(2) On 29 April 2024, troops arrested 3 kidnappers and a notorious criminal in Shendam and Barkin Ladi LGAs of Plateau State.
d. Armed Robbery Incident. On 28 April 2024, responded to info on armed robbery incident in Jema’a LGA of Kaduna State and made contact with the criminals. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized one criminal and reccovered one fabricated gun, machete as well as one mobil phone.
e. Kidnapping Incident. On 29 April 2024, troops responded to a distress call on kidnap activities in Jos S LGA of Plateau State but no contact was made. Troops rescued the victim and rcovered his vehicle.
f. Fighting Patrol. On 30 April 2024, troops conducted fighting patrol to kidnappers’ hideout in Barkin Ladi LGA of Plateau State and rescued 2 kidnapped victims abandoned by the criminals while fleeing.
SUMMARY
- Overall, troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN arrested 26 violent extremists and rescued 9 kidnapped hostages. Troops recovered one fabricated guns, one fabricated double barrel, 2 mobile phones amongst others.
OPERATION WHIRL STROKE (NORTH CENTRAL)
- Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE recorded the following during the week under review; troops arrested violent extremist/kidnappers, arrested gunrunner, conducted fighting patrol, re-arrested escaped inmates from suleija correctional prison, oiled armrobbery incident and conducted rai operation to Katsina-Ala LGA of Benue State.
- Details are as follows:
a. Arrest of Violent Extremist/Kidnapper.
(1) On 22 April 2024, troops in conjunction with DIA Cell raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Lau LGA of Taraba State and arrested 3 suspected kidnappers. Troops 3 x AK47 rifles, One x SMG, one Dane
gun, 4 AK 47 magazines, and 155 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammo.
(2) On 24 April 2024, troops while on fighting patrol arrested a suspected Bassa Militias Commander named Mohammed Shuibu Joko in Toto LGA of Nasarawa State.
b. Arrest of Gunrunner. On 22 April 2024, troops responded to a distressed call from vigilante Comd Itobe about activities of some suspected persons in Ofu LGA of Kogi state. Troops raided the general area and arrested 4 suspected kidnappers and gun runners. During interrogation criminal confessed to have recently sold 2 locally made guns to some criminals who are Agatu by tribe. Troops recovered one locally made gun.
c. Fighting Patrol. On 23 April 2024, troops conducted fighting patrol to in Ussa LGA of Taraba State and made contact but the terrorists fled into nearby bushes. Troops exploited the general area and discovered 2 corpses of neutralized terrorists. Troops recovered one AK47 rifle magazine, 79 rounds of acn/0010 carts, 7.62mm x 39mm ball Special and 81 rounds of carts 7.62mm x 54 mm ball rimmed ammo links.
d. Re-Arrest of Inmates Escapees from Suleija Correctional Prison. On 24 April 2024, troops responded to info on the escape of inmates at Suleja Correctional Centre in Suleja LGA of Niger State were about 119 inmates were reported to have escaped from the Facility. On arrival, troops cordoned the general area to secure the facility as well as re-arrested 17 inmates.
e. Foiled Armed Robbery Incident. on 25 April 2024, responded to a distress call on armed robbery activities at BCG general area of Nasarawa State University Keffi but the criminal fled on sighting troops. Troops recovered 5 Laptops, clothes, 6 Power Bank, 2 Knives and 8 mobile phones.
f. Raid Operation. On 29 April 2024, following information on armed violent extremists’ hideout in Katsina-Ala LGA of Benue State, arrested one suspected armed herder and recovered 3 AK 47 Rifles, one magazine, 116 rounds of 7.62 mm ammo, 2 mobil phones and the sum of Forty Thousand Naira (₦40,000.00) only.
SUMMARY
- Overall, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE arrested 28 violent extremists and rescued 12 kidnapped hostages. Troops recovered 8 AK47 rifles, 4 dane guns, 2 locally fabricated guns, one, SMG, 371 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 81 rounds of carts 7.62mm x 54 mm ball rimmed ammo links, 5 Laptop, 4 magazines, 2 motorcycles and 10 mobile phones amongst others.
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION HADARIN DAJI (NORTH WEST)
- The troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI recorded the following during the period under review; arrested terrorists informant/collaborators, foiled attemted kidnapping, Ambush operations in Tangaza LGA of Sokoto State.
- Details are as follows;
a. Arrest of Terrorists Informant/Collaborators. On 22 and 25 April 2024, troops arrested 4 terrorists informant in Danmusa and Faskari LGAs of Katsina State. Investigation revealed that one of the criminal is working with a terrorists kingpin Usman Barau who terrorising the general area. Troops recovered one vehicle conveying 3 motorcycles meant for the terrorists.
b. Foiled Attempted Kidnapping. On 22 April 2024, troops responded to information on kidnapped of commuters by terrorists in Talata Mafara LGA of Zamfara State but the terrorists fled before troops arrival. troops went on pursuit and neutralized 12 terrorists and rescued 5 kidnapped victims. Troops recovered 9 AK 47 rifles, 3 fabricated guns 470 rounds of 7.62mm 153 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammo, 6 mobile phones.
c. Ambush Operation. On 24 April 24, troops laid ambush at suspected terrorists checkpoint in Tangaza LGA of Sokoto State and made contact. Following a firefight, troops neutralized 14 terrorists and recovered 10 AK 47 Rifles, 739 rounds of 7.62mm, 282 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammo and 2 magazines.
d. Offensive Operations. Between 24 – 30 April 2024, troops conducted offensive operations to Tangaz, Isa, Tofa, Birnin Gwari, Shinkafi, Batsari and Danmusa LGAs of Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna Zamfara and Katsina States respectively. During the operations, troops made contact with Terrorists, following a fire fights, troops Neutralize 41 terrorists and arrested 16. Troops recovered 36 AK 47 Rifles, 5 fabricated guns, 3 dane guns, one locally made pistol, 12 magazines, 1,004 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammo, 247 rounds
of 7.62mm NATO, substances suspected to be Cannabis Sativa (Indian Hemp). among other items.
e. Terrorists Activities. Between 24 – 30 April 2024, troops responded to info about terrorists activities in Gwadabawa, Isa, Zurmi, Maradun, Giwa and Chikun LGAs of Sokoto, Zamfara and Kaduna States and contact was made. Following a firefight, troops neutralized 11 terrorists and rescued 17 hostages. Troops recovered 8 dane guns, 6 locally made guns 231 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 6 motorcycles among others.
f. Counter/Anti- Kidnapping/Criminality Op. On 29 April 2024, troops while on patrol rescued 14 kidnapped victims who were abducted by violent extremists along in Tsafe and Kajuru LGAs of Zamfara and Kaduna States.
- Air Interdiction. On 28 April 2024, air component of Operation HADARIN DAJI conducted Aerial Interdiction mission at the stronghold of bandit kingpin Manore in Danmusa LGA of Katsina State. The mission was executed in two waves. After the first wave of strikes, many surviving bandits were sighted taking cover under trees. Hence, a follow-up strike Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralized with their structures and logistics destroyed.
- Additionally, on 20 April 2024, intelligence revealed that terrorists kingpins Ado Ailero and Kamilu Buzaru with cronies were attending a naming ceremony at a populace North of Bichi in Danmusa LGA of Katsina State. On sighting air platform, the terrorists fled. The air component acquired and attacked fleeing terrorists on motorcycles North and South of the location.
SUMMARY
- Overall, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI neutralized 88 terrorists, arrested 34 terrorists and rescued 41 kidnapped hostages, Troops recovered 59 AK47 rifles, 16 fabricated guns, one fabricated pistols, 12 dane guns, 2,444 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 686 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 12 magazines, 2 baofeng radios, 7 motorcycles, and 13 mobile phones amongst others.
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION WHIRL PUNCH (NORTH WEST)
- The troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH recorded the following during the week under review; conducted fighting patrols, arrested criminal, conducted rai operations, arrested drugs peddlers and arrested criminals in Tafa LGA of Niger State.
- Details are as follows;
a. Fighting Patrol. On 23 April 2024, troops responded to distress call on kidnapping activities in Jema’a LGA of Kaduna State. On arrival, troops made contact with the terrorists and neutralized 2 as well as arrested 2 suspected kidnappers, 45 years old Mr Musa James and 50 years old Isiaha Akaya. Troops recovered 2 AK47 rifles, one fabricated rifle, 96 rounds 7.62mm special and one motorcycle.
b. Arrest of Criminals/Kidnapper Logistics Suppliers.
(1) On 22 April 2024, troops arrested 2 criminals in Kachia LGA of Kaduna State in connection with murder of one Mr Habu Hussein.
(2) On 22 April 2024, troops arrested a suspected kidnapper logistics supplier in Suleja LGA of Niger State. Troops recovered a vehicle loaded with 40 jerricans of PMS meant for the criminals.
(3) On 25 April 2024, troops acted on credible information and
arrested 3 suspected armed robbers namely, Mr Hamisu Abubakar, Abdulrahman Bayero and Saidu Jibrin in Kaura LGA of Kaduna State. Troops
recovered 2 mobile phones and 1 torch light. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects attacked and robbed one Mr Kukum Gai of the sum of N300,000 naira on his way back from the market.
b. Raid Operation. On 26 April 2024, troops conducted raid operations to an identified hideout of armed robbers/kidnappers in Kaura LGA of Kaduna State. During the operations, troops made contact with the criminals and arrested one criminal while others escaped. Troops recovered 1 fabricated rifle, 4 Dane Guns, 158 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 14 cartridges and 2 mobile phones.
c. Arrest of Drugs Peddler. On 26 April 2024, troops conducted fighting patrol to Bwari Area Council of FCT Abuja and arrested 3 drug peddlers.
d. Arrest of Criminals.
(1) On 28 April 2024, arrested 3 who specialized in snatching of motorcycles in Tafa LGA of Niger State.
(2) On 28 and 29 April 2024, troops arrested 2 kidnappers who were alleged to be involved in kidnapping, cattle rustling and motorcycle snatching activities in Rogo and Doguwa LGAs of Kano State.
- Air Interdiction. The air component of Operation WHIRL PUNCH conducted 2 separates air strikes on 27 April 2024. The strike was targeted at terrorists’ hideouts in Shiroro Local Government Area LGA of Niger State and against economic saboteurs in the Niger Delta region which yielded significant results. In Shiroro LGA, the strikes were executed at the stronghold of notorious terrorist kingpin, Mallam Umar and several other commanders located in the Alawa Forest area. Similar air strikes were also carried out the same day in the Niger Delta region against economic saboteurs and oil thieves bent of illegally siphoning crude oil from mutilated pipelines, while destroying the environment and ecosystems. Similarly, illegal refining activities was observed at Ke, Egbema, Akaso Krakama, Krikama and Military Council Valley. Also, a Cotonou boat fully loaded with crude oil product was also observed at Akaso Krakama about to depart southwards. The terrorists kingpin is an ally to terrorists kingpin Dogo Gide location’s was acquired and attacked with rockets and cannons. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists including one Kachalla Zugudum, Mallam Yadee’s lieutenant were neutralized with their structures and logistics destroyed.
SUMMARY
- Overall, troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH arrested 15 suspects and recovered 3 AK47 rifles, 5 fabricated guns, 4 dane guns, 252 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 14 live cartridges, one motorcycles and 2 mobile phone amonsgt others.
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION DELTA SAFE (SOUTH SOUTH)
- Troops of Operation DELTA SAFE maintained momentum against the activities of crude oil theft. Troops destroyed several illegal refining sites and recovered stolen products. Troops also arrested suspected violent extremists/vandals in Ethiope West, Ughelli and Ndokwa LGAs of Delta State as well as Orhionmwon and Esan North East LGAs of Edo State respectively.
- Details as follows:
a. Troops Destroy Illegal Refining Sites. Troops recovered 615,320 litres of stolen crude oil, 157,060 litres of illegally refined AGO and 4480 litres of PMS. Additionally, troops discovered and destroyed 49 dugout pits, 13 boats, 17 drums, 22 receiver and 23 storage tanks. Other items recovered include 59 cooking ovens, 7 vehicles, one pumping machine, 2 motorcycles and 21 illegal refining sites.
b. Arrest of Vandal/Criminals.
(1) On 22 April 2024, troops conducted raid operation to Aniocha North and Warri North, LGAs of Delta State respectively. Troops arrested 8 vandal/criminals and recovered one single barrel gun, one double barrel gun, 2 pump action, 16 cartridges, 7 hand metal files, 8 mobile phones, the sum of Four Thousand Five Hundred and Fifty Naira (₦4,550.00) Only and other sundry items.
(2) Sequel to the raid at Aniocha North LGA of Delta State which led to arrest of 3 suspects on 22 Apr 24. Criminal led troops to a mini arms factory location 24 Apr 24, and recovered 2 manual drilling machines, 4 vice machines, one blacksmith forge pit, 23 locally made gun butts, 19 locally made gun barrels and 15 hand saws as well as 3 hammer, 2 plier, 2 screwdriver, 3 locally manufactured firing mechanisms and 3 cutlasses.
SUMMARY
- Overall, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE recovered 615,320 litres of stolen crude oil, 157,060 litres of illegally refined AGO and 4480 litres of PMS. Additionally, troops discovered and destroyed 49 dugout pits, 13 boats, 17 drums, 22 receiver and 23 storage tanks. Other items recovered include 59 cooking ovens, 7 vehicles, one pumping machine, 2 motorcycles and 21 illegal refining sites.
- Troops apprehended 32 suspected oil thefts and other violent extremists and recovered 4 weapons and 46 live cartridges.
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION UDO KA (SOUTH EAST)
- Troops of Operation UDO KA recorded the following during the week under review; arrested violent extremist collaborator, Conducted raid operations, conducted counter anti kidnapping and criminality operations and arrested IPOB/ESN members/spy in Oru E and Oguta LGAs of IMO State.
- Details as follows:
a. Arrest. On 22 April 2024, troops while on patrol in Ihiala LGA of Anambra State arrested one Azubeze Nwannokolo following the discovery of a vehicle that was used by criminals to carry out attack on troops at Okija on 18 April 2024 at his residence.
b. Raid Operation. on 23 April 2024, troops in conjunction with Nigeria Police personnel raided a suspected IPOB/ESN camp location in in Onicha LGA of Ebonyi State and made contact but the criminals fled. troops however destroyed the camp recovered 550 Pump Action Cartridges and one motorcycle.
c. Counter/Anti Kidnapping Criminality Operation.
(1) On 26 April 2024, troops with DSS conducted fighting patrol to New Artisan Market in Enugu S LGA of Enugu State and arrested 2 kidnappers in connection with the kidnap of MWO Casmir Olua (discharged). The suspects led troops to their hideout in Ibagwa Nike Forest where the victim is been held hostage but no contact was made. However, suspects were made to call the other gang members who claimed victim has been released. troops exploited the general area and recovered 3 AK 47 Rifle and 52 rounds of 7.62mm Special ammo.
(2) On 26 April 2024, conducted fighting patrol to a criminal’s hideout in Awka N LGA of Anambra State and made contact, but the criminals fled in disarray. troops exploited the general area and recovered 2 teargas canisters, 2 pump action and 6 Pump Action cartridges as well as destroyed one motorcycle, one IED and the criminals’ make shift structures.
d. Arrest Operation. On 28 April 2024, troops arrested 2 IPOB/ESN/spy in Oru E and Oguta LGAs of IMO State. One of the violent extremist confessed to be a friend to a notorious ESN Commander Wadinso Nonso, while leading troops to hideout of other IPOB/ESN members attempted to disarm a soldier and escape but was neutralized.
SUMMARY
- Overall, troops of Operation UDO KA neutralized arrested 8 violent extremists and recovered 3 AK47 rifles, 2 pump action guns, 152 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 550 live cartridges and one vehicle amongst other. All recovered items, arrested suspects and rescued hostages were handed over to the relevant authority for further action.

REPORT ON MONTHLY REVIEW OF JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR THE MONTH OF FEBUARY 2024
JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION HADIN KAI (NORTH EAST)
- During the month of Apr 24, troops of Operation HADIN KAI conducted operations into Sambisa Forest, Timbuktu Triangle and the Tumbus around the Lake Chad Region. All the locations are stronghold in which the terrorist hibernate.
- Accordingly, troops neutralised 248 terrorist, arrested 422 suspects and rescued 163 kidnapped hostages. Meanwhile, troops recorded 714 surrendered BH/ISWAP terrorists combatants and their families.
- The summary of recovered items include 208 AK47 rifles, 34 fabricated, 45 dane guns, 18 assorted arms, 3,672 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 2,058 rounds of 7.62mm NATO and 422 assorted ammunitions.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION SAFE HAVEN (NORTH CENTRAL)
- During the month of Apr 24, troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN conducted operations to several of the hotpots responsible insecurity in the Plateau. Troops also had to recaliberate its approach in tackling security situation by making changes in troops deployment.
- Overall, troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN neutralized 32 terrorist violent extremist, arrested 148 suspects and rescued 35 kidnap hostages.
- Troops equally recovered 23 AK47 rifles, 19 fabricated guns, 93 assorted arms, 788 rounds of 7.62mm special, 451 rounds of 7.62mm NATO and 256 assorted ammunitions.

OPERATION WHIRL STROKE (NORTH CENTRAL)
- Troops of Operation Whirl STROKE conducted operations to several strongholds hibernating terrorist during the month of April 24. Troops also had to change tactics in certain instances in order to retain operational effectiveness.
- For instance is the temporary withdrawal of troops at FOB Alawa. Tps at FOBs Allawa and Erena, while on a fighting ptl to Karaga Vil in Shiroro LGA of Niger State had an encounter with terrorists on 19 Apr 24. Troops fought through the ambush but sadly suffered cas of 2 x offrs KIA and 4 x soldiers WIA.
- Relatedly, On 23 Apr 24,same troops encountered IED explosion at Maganda Junction killing 2 x sldrs and wounding 5 others. Based on these occurences, there was a quick change in tactics in order to maintain the tactical advantage.
- Accordingly, troops in FOB Alawa were tactically withdrawn to nearby FOB Pandogari. The muddy terrain as a result of the set in of the rainy season required that troops changed tactics in the conduct of operations in the area.
- Overall, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE neutralized 60 terrorist, arrested 99 suspects and rescued 57 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered 40 AK47 rifles, 60 assorted arms, 917 rounds of 7.62mm special, 896 rounds of 7.62mm NATO and 331 assorted ammunitions.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION HADARIN DAJI (NORTH WEST)
- Troops Operation HADARIN DAJI maintained the momentum against the activities of hibernating in Bayan Ruwa and other terrorist enclaves in the operation theatre. It is no longer news, that there is a linkage between illegal mining and acts of terrorism ongoing in the NW operational theatre.
- The foreign involvement as a result of the the illegal mining were all established during the just concluded counter terrorist summit held in Abuja. It is believed that a regional and international approach to address the situation is incubating.
- Nevertheless, troops of Op HADARIN DAJI neutralized 297 terrorist, arrested 141 suspects and rescued 143 kidnap hostages.
- Troops recovered 182 AK47 rifles, 57 fabricated guns, 71 assorted arms, 4,192 rounds of 7.62mm special, 2,341 rounds of 7.62mm NATO and 556 assorted ammunitions.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION DELTA SAFE (SOUTH SOUTH)
- Troops of Op DELTA SAFE maintained the momentum against the activities of crude oil theft. Troops continued to find and destroyed illegal refining sites as well as arrest the perpetrators of oil theft.
- During the month of April 2024, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE neutralized 9 violent extremist and arrested 164 persons involved in crude oil theft. Troops also denied the oil theft of 2,563,335 litres of crude oil, 254,620 litres of AGO, 1,050 litres of DPK and 8,000 litres of PMS.
- Furthermore, troops recovered 56 assorted weapons and destroyed 74 wooden boats, 1,501 assorted ammunitions and 76 illegal refining sites.
