Report On Ongoing Military Operations By The Armed Forces Of Nigeria As At 12 April 2024

The Statement Reads in Part: REPORT ON ONGOING MILITARY OPERATIONS BY THE ARMED FORCES OF NIGERIA AS AT 12 APRIL 2024

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION HADIN KAI (NORTH EAST)

  1. Troops of Operation HADIN KAI recorded the following activities during the period under review; conducted offensive operations, arrested ISWAP/JAS combatants and collaborators. The theatre recorded the surrendering of BH/ISWAP terrorists combatants and theirs families in Damboa, Biu, Guzamala, Monguno, Dikwa, MMC, Mafa, Konduga, Gwoza, Bama and Geidam LGAs in Borno State. Surrendering was also recorded in Madagali, Gujba and Geidam LGAs of Yobe State.
  2. Details as follows:

a. Fighting Patrol. Between 3 – 9 April 2024, troops in conjunction with hybrid forces conducted fighting patrols and made contact with BH/ISWAP terrorists in Damboa, Gwoza, Biu, Guzamala Bama, Dikwa and Monguno LGAs of Borno State. Similar patrols were conducted in Madagali and Gujba LGAs of Adamawa and Yobe States, respectively. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 35 terrorists, arrested 15 suspects and rescued one kidnapped hostage. Troops recovered 27 AK47 rifles, 3 PKT guns, 7 fabricated guns, 5 dane guns, 365 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 275 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 151 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammo, 14 magazines, 4 baofeng radios, 3 magazine jackets, 6 motorcycles, 17 bicycles and 6 mobile phones amongst others.
b. Arrest of ISWAP/JAS Terrorist Collaborators. Between 7-9 April 2024, troops with hybrid forces in separate operations conducted sting operations in Damboa, Biu and MMC LGAs of Borno State as well as Yola North LGA of Adamawa State. During the operations, troops arrested 21 BH/ISWAP terrorists collaborators including kidnappers. Troops recovered 9 AK47 rifles, 114 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, one magazine, 2 mobile phones and the sum of N142,900.00 amongst others.
c. Arrest of ISWAP/JAS Terrorists Combatants.
(1) On 2 – 4 April 2024, troops with hybrid forces in separate operations arrested 16 suspected BH/ISWAP terrorist and collaborators in Bama and Geidam LGAs of Borno State.
(2) On 4 – 7 April 2024, troops in separate operations arrested 2 suspected ISWAP/JAS terrorists fighters in Geidam and Monguno LGAs of Yobe and Borno States respectively.
d. Surrender of BH/ISWAP/JAS Terrorists Fighters.
(1) On 1 – 2 April 2024, 44 BH/ISWAP terrorists fighters and their families comprising of 11 adult males, 13 adult females and 22 children surrendered to troops in Mafa, Konduga and Gwoza LGAs of Borno State. Troops recovered 10 AK47 rifles, 2 fabricated guns, 324 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 121 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, one hand grenade, one bandolier, 4 mobile phones and the sum of N180,000.00 amongst others.
(2) On 8 April 2024, 2 adult males BH/ISWAP/JAS terrorists fighters named Ibn Ali and Jaafar Abdullahi surrendered to troops in Bama LGA of Borno State. Troops recovered, 2 AK47 rifles, 2 AK47 magazines, 52 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 2 bicycles and 2 mobile phones.
(3) Between 3 – 9 Apr 24, a total of 136 terrorist comprising 24 adult males 38 adult females and 74 children surrendered to troops within the theatre of operations.

  1. Air Interdiction. On 4 April 2024, following intelligence on terrorist activities. The air component conducted air strike on ISWAP/JAS terrorists logistics hub with IEDs and ammunitions fabricated factory around Mandara mountains. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralized and their logistics destroyed a result of the strike.
  2. Additionally, air component of Operation HADIN KAI in conjunction with Nigerien ISR provided close air support for land component under attacked in Mobbar LGA Borno State. Overhead, the terrorists were engaged with bombs and cannons. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralized.

SUMMARY

  1. Overall, troops of Operation HADIN KAI neutralized 68 terrorists, arrested 182 suspects and rescued 53 kidnappers hostages. Troops recovered 58 AK47 rifles, 3 PKT guns, 14 fabricated guns, 12 dane guns, one hand grenade, one bandolier, 741 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 510 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 151 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammo, 17 magazines, 4 baofeng radios, 3 magazine jackets, 6 motorcycles, 19 bicycles 14 mobile phones and the sum of N322,900.00 amongst others.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION SAFE HAVEN (NORTH CENTRAL)

  1. Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN recorded the following during the period under review. Troops arrested violent extremists/kidnappers, raided hideouts of violent extremists and conducted counter/anti kidnapping operations in Mangu, Barkin Ladi, Jos South, Qua’an Pan, Bassa, Riyom and Shedam LGAs of Plateau State as well as Takum LGA of Taraba State.
  2. Details are as follows: 

a. Arrests of Suspected Violent Extremists.
(1) On 1 – 2 April 2024, troops is separate operations conducted sting operations in Barkin Ladi and Mangu LGAs of Plateau State. During the operations, troops arrested one suspected violent extremist and recovered one AK47 rifle with 25 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo.
(2) On 3 and 6 April 2024, troops while conducting offensive operations arrested 6 suspected violent extremists in Mangu, Barkin Ladi and Bassa LGAs of Plateau State.
b. Raid Operations. On 8 – 9 April 2024, troops in separate operations conducted raided suspected violent extremists in Jos South and Qua’an Pan LGAs of Plateau State. During the operations, troops arrested 4 suspects and recovered 2 locally fabricated rifles, 2 foreign fabricated pistols, 55 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 33 cartridges and 2 mobile phones amongst others.
c. Counter/Anti- Kidnapping/Criminality Op. Between 3 and 7 April 2024, troops in separate operations conducted counter/anti kidnapping operations and made contact with violent extremists in Bassa, Riyom, Mangu and Shendam LGAs of Plateau State as well as Takum LGA of Taraba State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 4 insurgents, arrested 5 suspected violent extremists/kidnappers informant and rescued 3 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered 4 fabricated guns, 2 dane guns, one fabricated revolver pistol, 72 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 23 live cartridges, one motorcycles and 4 mobile phones amongst others.

SUMMARY

  1. Overall, troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN neutralized 14 insurgents, arrested 41 violent extremists and rescued 3 kidnapped hostages. Troops recovered 11 AK47 rifle, 6 fabricated guns, 2 dane guns, 2 foreign fabricated pistols, one fabricated revolver pistol, 280 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 72 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 56 live cartridges, one motorcycle and 6 mobile phones amongst others.

OPERATION WHIRL STROKE (NORTH CENTRAL)

  1. Troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE recorded the following during the week under review; troops responded to activities of suspected violent extremists/kidnappers, conducted fighting patrols, offensive operations and counter/anti kidnapping operations in Nasarawa Eggon, Toto, Nasarawa, Keana and Karu LGAs of Nasarawa State as well as Ukum and Gwer West LGAs of Benue State. Additionally, Takum and Ussa LGAs of Taraba State.
  2. Details are as follows: 

a. Activities of Suspected Terrorist/Kidnappers. On 1 April 2024, troops in separate operations conducted fighting patrols and made contact with violent extremists/terrorists in Nasarawa Eggon and Toto LGAs of Nasarawa State as well as Ukum LGA of Benue State respectively. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 6 insurgents and arrested 10 suspected violent extremists/Bassa militias. Troops also rescued 2 kidnapped hostages and recovered 6 fabricated rifles, 5 dane guns, 2 locally made single barrel, 201 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 34 live cartridges, 2 motorcycles, 2 mobile phones and cutlasses.
b. Fighting Patrol. On 3 and 4 April 2024, troops in separate operations conducted fighting patrols in Nasarawa and Gwer West LGAs of Nasarawa and Benue States as well as Takum LGA of Taraba State. During the operations, troops arrested 7 suspected violent extremists/kidnappers and rescued 2 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered 2 AK47 rifles, 5 fabricated AK47 rifles, 2 dane guns, 60 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 137 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 2 motorcycles, 4 mobile phones and camouflage uniform.
c. Offensive Operations. Between 3 – 7 April 2024, troops while conducting offensive operations made contact with violent extremists/kidnappers in Keana LGA of Nasarawa State and Gwer and Ukum LGAs of Benue State as well as Takum and Ussa LGAs of Taraba State. During the operations, troops neutralized 5 insurgents, arrested 14 violent extremists/kidnappers/informant and rescued 4 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered 4 AK47 rifles, 133 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ball, 5 dane guns, 3 motorcycles and 6 mobile phones amongst others.
d. Counter/Anti- Kidnapping/Criminality Op. One 3 – 5 April 2024, troops in separate operations responded to distress calls on kidnapping incidents in Nasarawa and Karu LGAs of Nasarawa State. During the operations, troops rescued 5 kidnapped hostages and arrested one suspected violent extremist/kidnapper. Troops also recovered one AK47 rifle and one vehicle.

SUMMARY 

  1. Overall, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE neutralized 11 terrorists, arrested 32 violent extremists and rescued 11 kidnapped hostages. Troops recovered 7 AK47 rifles, 11 fabricated rifles, 12 dane guns, 2 locally made single barrel, 60 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 338 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 133 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ball ammo, 34 live cartridges, one vehicle, 7 motorcycles and 12 mobile phones amongst others.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION HADARIN DAJI (NORTH WEST)

  1. The troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI recorded the following during the period under review; responded to terrorists activities, conducted offensive operations, Counter/anti kidnapping operations and arrested suspected terrorists/kidnappers in Anka and Maru LGAs of Zamfara State, as well as Faskari and Danmusa LGAs of Katsina State.
  2. Additionally, same was done in Gwale and Rogo LGAs of Kano State, Isa and Illela LGAs of Sokoto State as well as Shanga LGA of Kebbi State.
  3. Details are as follows;

a. Troops Reponded to Terrorists Activities.
(1) On 1 April 2024, following reports troops responded to information on terrorists activities and made contact in Anka LGA of Zamfara State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 15 terrorists and recovered 8 AK47 rifles, 5 dane guns, one double barrel gun, 2 magazines, 223 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 102 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, one baofeng radio and one motorcycle.
(2) Between 6 – 9 April 2024, troops in separate operations responded to information on terrorists activities and made contact with terrorists in Shanga and Rogo LGAs of Kebbi and Kano States as well as Isa and Illela LGAs of Sokoto State. Following a fire fights, troops neutralized 7 terrorists and arrested 5 suspects. Troops also recovered 4 AK47 rifles, 3 fabricated guns, 2 dane guns, 127 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 71 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 4 motorcycles, one mobile phone and the sum of 52,310.000 only amongst other items.
b. Offensive Operations.
(1) Between 1 – 5 April 2024, troops with hybrid forces while conducting offensive operations made contact with terrorists in Faskari and Danmusa LGAs of Katsina State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 24 terrorists and recovered 10 AK47 rifles, 7 fabricated guns, 7 dane guns, 6 magazines, 278 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 187 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 7 motorcycles, 6 bicycles and 6 mobile phones amongst others.
(2) On 7 – 9 April 2024, troops in separate conducted offensive operations to high profile terrorist Yello Janbros camp and made contact with terrorists in Maru LGA of Zamfara State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 16 terrorists and rescued 2 kidnapped hostages. Troops also recovered 22 AK47 rifles, 9 magazines, 4 dane guns, 2 locally made pistols, 351 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 231 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 71 rounds of 9mm ammo, 11 motorcycles, 4 mobile phones, 4 HH radios and 2 Solar inverters amongst others.
b. Counter/Anti- Kidnapping/Criminality Op. On 8 April 2024, troops responded to credible intelligence from an arrested kidnapper and further arrested a wanted terrorist/kidnapper identified as Kabiru Shehu (aka Hukuma) in Rogo LGA of Kano State. The suspect is alleged to be the leader of a kidnapping syndicate in the same LGA.
c. Arrested Suspected Terrorists/kidnappers.
(1) On 2 and 3 April 2024, troops while on fighting patrols arrested 3 suspected terrorists/kidnappers in Gwale and Rogo LGAs of Kano State. Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the suspects have earlier kidnapped one Abubakar Sadiq and demanding the sum of N50,000,000 as ransom.
(2) On 3 – 7 April 2024, troops in separate operations. Troops intercepted and arrested 8 suspected BH/ISWAP terrorists and kidnappers in Rogo and Tarauni LGA of Kano State as well as Birnin Gwari LGA of Kaduna States respectively.

  1. Air Interdiction. On 3 April 2024, following intelligence, the air component conducted air interdiction on terrorist hibernating in settlements in Kankara LGA of Katsina State. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralized and their structures destroyed.
  2. Similary, on 4 April 2024, the air component conducted similar air interdiction sequel to previous day’s strike. Following sight and trailing of group of terrorists to a high ground, subsequently, target were attacked with rockets. Battle Damage Assessment by UAV revealed that several terrorists were eliminated with arms and ammunitions destroyed.
  3. Furthermore, following intelligence on the activities of two terrorist Commanders enclave, namely Abdullahi Nasanda’s and Mallam Tukur’s enclaves in Zurmi, Gusau and Maradun LGAs of Zamfara State. On 10 April 2024, the air component acquired and engaged the targets. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralized and their structures as well as equipment were destroyed.

SUMMARY 

  1. Overall, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI neutralized 62 terrorists, arrested 43 terrorists and rescued 45 kidnapped hostages. Troops recovered 44 AK47 rifles, 10 fabricated guns, 18 dane guns, one double barrel gun, 2 locally made pistols, 979 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 591 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 71 rounds of 9mm ammo, 17 magazines, 5 boafeng radio, 19 motorcycles, 6 bicycles and 10 mobile phones amonsgt other items.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION WHIRL PUNCH (NORTH WEST)

  1. Troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH recorded the following during the week under review. Troops responded to violent extremists activities, rescued kidnapped hostages and conducted fighting patrol Zango Kataf and Giwa LGAs of Kaduna State as well as Kogi and Lokoja LGAs of Kogi State. Troops equally combed , Kuje Area Council of FCT Abuja.
  2. Details are as follows;

a. Activities of Terrorists. On 2 and 4 April 2024, troops in separate operations responded to information on violent extremists/kidnappers activities and made contact in Zango Kataf and Giwa LGAs of Kaduna State. Following a fire fights, troops neutralized 12 extremists and recovered 10 AK47 rifles, one stock of AK47 rifles, 201 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 4 motorcycles and one HH radio.
b. Rescue Of Kidnap Victims. On 1- 4 April 2024, troops with hybrid forces in separate operations responded to distress call on suspected violent extremists/kidnapping incident in Kogi and Lokoja LGAs of Kogi State. During the operation, troops made contact with violent extremists. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 9 insurgents and rescued 7 kidnapped hostages including an infant. Troops also recovered 6 fabricated rifles, 3 dane guns 175 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 2 motorcycles and assorted charms.
c. Fighting Patrols. On 2 April 2024, troops while conducting fighting patrols arrested 2 suspected violent extremists in Kuje Area Council of FCT Abuja. Troops also recovered one locally made gun loaded with 6 cartridges, one locally made pistol and 2 mobile phones.
d. Raid Operations. On 6 April 2024, troops with local vigilantes raided a suspected violent extremists/kidnappers kingpin hideout in Lokoja LGA of Kogi State. During the operation, troops arrested one suspected violent extremist/kidnapper collaborator identifed as Sani Adamu. Preliminary investigation revealed that suspect is in connection with Alhaji Guma a violent extremist/kidnapper/armed robber kingpin alleged to coordinate kidnapping activities in OBAJANA general area.

  1. Air Interdiction. On 4 April 2024, the air component of Operation WHIRL Punch conducted air interdiction on terrorist hibernating within Shiroro and Rafi LGAs of Niger State. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were eliminated and their logistics destroyed.
  2. Similarly, on 6 April 2024, following intelligence the air component conducted air interdiction at a terrorist’s camp in Giwa LGA of Kaduna State. The location was observed to be active with terrorists activities. Consequently, the location was acquired and engaged with rockets and cannons. Battle Damage Assessment revealed that several terrorists were neutralized and their logistics destroyed.

SUMMARY 

  1. Overall, troops of Operation WHIRL PUNCH neutralized 9 terrorists, arrested 18 suspects and rescued 7 kidnapped hostages. Troops recovered 3 dane guns, 7 fabricated guns, one locally made pistol, 175 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 6 cartridges, 2 motorcycles and 2 mobile phones amonsgt others.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION DELTA SAFE (SOUTH SOUTH)

  1. Troops of Operation DELTA SAFE maintained momentum against the activities of crude oil theft. Troops destroyed several illegal refining sites and recovered stolen products. Troops also conducted fighting patrol, offensive and raid operations as well as arrested suspected violent extremists/bunkerers and kidnappers collaborator in Degema, Ahonda, Onne and Okrika LGAs of Rivers State as well as Oron and Uyo LGAs of Akwa Ibom State.
  2. Additionally, Burutu, Ughelli South and North LGAs of Delta State, Akpabuyo, Bakassi and Akamkpa LGAs of Cross River as well as Ovia and Uyo LGAs of Edo and Akwa Ibom States respectively.
  3. Details as follows:

a. Troops Destroy Illegal Refining Sites. Troops recovered 672,350 litres of stolen crude oil and 90,530 litres of illegally refined AGO. Additionally, troops discovered and destroyed 51 dugout pits, 24 boats and 21 storage tanks. Other items recovered include 28 cooking ovens, 4 vehicles and 21 illegal refining sites.
b. Fighting Patrols. Between 1 – 5 April 2024, troops with hybrid forces in separate operations conducted fighting patrols in Ughelli South and North LGAs of Delta State as well as Degema and Oron LGAs of Rivers and Akwa Ibom States. During the operations, troops neutralized 4 insurgents and arrested 10 violent extremists. Troops also recovered 8 locally fabricated guns, 123 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 35 live cartridges and 2 motorcycles.
c. Offensive Operations. Between 7 and 9 April 2024, troops while conducting offensive operations raided suspected violent extremists hideouts in Ughelli South of Delta State as well as Degema and Okrika LGAs of Rivers State respectively. During the operations, troops made contact with violent extremists. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 5 insurgents and arrested 21 violent extremists/sea pirates including 4 personnel of NSCDC. Troops recovered 6 pump action guns, 2 locally made pistols, 89 live cartridges, 15 rounds of 9mm ammo and 3 mobile phones.
d. Raid Operations.
(1) On 25 March 2024, troops conducted raid operations in continuation of search and rescue operations to identifed and apprehend the killers of own troops of 181 Amph Bn as well recover stolen weapons in Burutu LGA of Delta State. During the operation, troops arrested 4 suspected violent extremists/terrorists and recovered 2 fabricated guns, one double barrel gun, 74 rounds of 7.62mm NATO and 23 cartridges.
(2) On 6 April 2024, troops in separate operations raided suspected violent extremists/kidnappers/sea pirates and vandals in Ovia South-West LGA of Edo State as well as Bakassi and Akpabuyo LGAs of Cross River States respectively. During the operations, troops arrested 10 suspected violent extremists and recovered one AK47 rifle, 3 pump action guns, 2 magazines, 17 rounds of 7.62mm special, 79 live cartridges, one motorcycle and 4 mobile phones amongst others.
e. Arrest of Suspected Violent Extremists/Bunkerers. Between 2 and 4 April 2024, troops in conjunction with hybrid forces in separate operations conducted anti-illegal bunkering operation and arrested 15 suspected violent extremists/bunkerers/vandals and kidnappers collaborator in Ahonda East and Onne LGAs of Rivers State as well as Uyo LGA of Akwa Ibom State. Additionally, Akpabuyo and Akamkpa LGAs of Cross River State. Troops also recovered 2 vehicles and 4 vandalised iron pipes amongst others.

SUMMARY

  1. Overall, troops of Operation DELTA SAFE recovered 672,350 litres of stolen crude oil and 90,530 litres of illegally refined AGO. Additionally, Troops discovered and destroyed 51 dugout pits, 24 boats and 21 storage tanks. Other items recovered include 28 cooking ovens, 4 vehicles, 2 motorcycles and 21 illegal refining sites.
  2. Troops neutralized 9 insurgents and apprehended 67 suspected oil thefts and other violent extremists. Troops recovered 23 weapons and 455 assorted ammunitions.

JOINT TASK FORCE OPERATION UDO KA (SOUTH EAST)

  1. Troops of Operation UDO KA recorded the following during the week under review; conducted fighting patrols, offensive operations, counter/anti kidnapping operations and arrested suspected violent extremists/terrorists Aguata, Orumba South and Ogbaru LGAs of Anambra State as well as Agwu and Oji River LGAs of Enugu State. Additionally, Isuikwuato and Ikwo LGAs of Abia and Ebonyi States, also Owerri and Akpabuyo LGAs of Imo and Cross River States.
  2. Details as follows:

a. Fighting Patrols.
(1) On 2 April 2024, troops in conjunction with hybrid forces conducted fighting patrol and made contact with violent extremists/IPOB members in Aguata and Orumba South LGAs of Anambra State. Following a fire fight, troops neutralized 15 insurgents and recovered 2 AK47 rifles, 13 automatic pump action guns, 2 locally made pistols, 52 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 321 live cartridges, 30 rounds of 9mm ammo, one IED, one vehicle, one HH radio and assorted charms amonsgt others.
(2) Between 3 and 7 April 2024, troops in separate operations conducted fighting patrols in Agwu LGA of Enugu State and Ikwo LGA of Ebonyi State as well as Owerri LGA of Imo State. During the operations, troops arrested 6 suspected violent extremists including high profile IPOB/ESN terrorists identified as Mr Onwuha Onyebuchi.
b. Offensive Operations. On 5 – 8 April 2024, troops with hybrid forces in separate operations conducted offensive operations in Ogbaru and Akpabuyo LGAs of Anambra and Cross River States respectively. During the operations, troops arrested 2 suspected violent extremists and recovered 2 pump action guns, 34 live cartridges, 9 IEDs, 4 HH radios and solar panels amongst others.
c. Counter/Anti- Kidnapping/Criminality Op. On 6 and 7 April 2024, troops conducted counter/anti kidnapping operations in Oji River and Isuikwuato LGAs of Enugu and Abia States respectively. During the operations, troops arrested 6 suspected violent extremists/armed robbers including a notorious kidnapper kingpin identified as Mr Aliyu Yahaya (aka Mosquito). Troops also recovered 3 motorcycles, 3 mobile phones and the sum of N235,000.00 amongst other items.
d. Arrest. On 3 April 2024, troops with Nigerian Police personnel responded to distress call about murder and arrested 3 suspected violent extremists in Isuikwuato LGA of Abia State.

SUMMARY

  1. Overall, troops of Operation UDO KA neutralized 15 terrorists, arrested 56 violent extremists and rescued 17 kidnapped hostages. Troops recovered 2 AK47 rifles, 15 automatic pump action guns, 2 locally made pistols, 10 IEDs, 52 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 30 rounds of 9mm ammo, 355 live cartridges, 5 HH radios, one vehicle, 3 motorcycles, 3 mobile phones and the sum of N235,000.00 only amongst other. All recovered items, arrested suspects and rescued hostages were handed over to the relevant authority for further action.

PRESS RELEASE ON ONGOING MILITARY OPERATIONS BY THE ARMED FORCES OF NIGERIA AS AT 12 APRIL 2024

  1. The armed forces are working decisively to kill the terrorist , stop the insecurity and ensure the safety of citizens. Accordingly, we are making the terrorist pay a much heavier price than we have been forced to pay.
  2. Troops will continue to operate with tremendous force against the terrorist across the country. During the week under review. Troops neutralised 188 and arrested 330 persons.
  3. Troops also arrested 36 perpetrators of oil theft and rescued 133 kidnapped hostages. In the SS, troops denied the oil theft of the estimated sum of Six Hundred and Thirty Seven Million Seven and Ten Thousand Three Hundred and Ten Naira (N637,710,310.00) only.
  4. Furthermore, troops recovered 270 assorted weapons and 5,083 assorted ammunition. The breakdown as follows: 122 AK47 rifles, 47 locally fabricated gun, 47 dane guns, 24 automatic pump action guns, 8 locally fabricated pistols, 2 locally made single barrel guns, one double barrel gun, one hand grenade and one IED.
  5. Others are: 2,129 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo, 1,686 rounds of 7.62mm NATO, 116 rounds of 9mm ammo, 133 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ball ammo, 151 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm ammo, 619 live cartridges, 34 magazines, 8 HH radios, 8 vehicles, 40 motorcycles, 6 bicycles, 50 mobile phones and the sum of N610,210.00 amongst other items.
  6. Troops in the Niger Delta area discovered and destroyed 51 dugout pits, 24 boats, 21 storage tanks and 4 vehicles. Other items recovered incl 28 cooking ovens and 21 illegal refining sites. Troops recovered 672,350 litres of stolen crude oil and 90,530 litres of illegally refined AGO.
  7. The military is in a good and strong position in the war against terrorist with many terrorist leaders killed. We will continue to provide security for citizens with the tools at our disposal.
