Nigerian Army Decorates 47 New Rank Major Generals.

The Nigerian Army on thursday decorated 47 senior officers  with  the new rank of Major Generals on 28 December 2023 at the Army Headquarters command officers mess 1 Asokoro Abuja, Nigeria.

Addressing the senior officers, the Minister of  state for Defence , His Excellency
Bello Mohammed Matawalle revealed that, the promotion was an indication  to their
Selfless commitment to their  duty and hard work.

“It takes a lot of courage, discipline, and resilience to rise through the ranks, Matawalle said.

“Your promotion is a testament to your many years of hard work, dedication, and commitment to serving our great nation. As a Nigerian, I know firsthand the sacrifices that come with attaining this height,he said.

“You have all shown exceptional leadership skills, strategic thinking and a deep understanding in the course of your career, He said.

“This promotion is a beacon of hope to all Nigerians and a call to elevate your efforts in the fight against insecurity especially in the North West and other parts of the Country,” He said.

“I am also aware of the rigorous process of selecting those being honoured here today and I am bold to say you are all indeed one of our finest breed and the Nation is proud of you.

“Your contributions to the Nigerian Army are invaluable, and we are confident that you will continue to serve our nation with honour and distinction,” he stated.

He charged them to redouble their efforts towards ending security challenges in the country.

Outlook Media gathered that, the Army Council on December 21 approved the promotion of 47 Brigadier Generals to the rank of Major General, while 75 Colonels were elevated to the rank of Brigadier General, newly decorated Major Generals are WB Etuk, JE Osifo, WM Dangana, TB Ugiagbe, ASM Wase, MA Abdullahi, BI Alaya, AO Oyelade, OO Arogundade, EI Okoro, CR Nnebeife, FU Mijinyawa, MT Abdullahi, M Adamu, ND Shagaya, ME Onoja, MO Erebulu, BA Ilori, MO Ihanuwaze, O Nwachukwu, EE Ekpenyong, SI Musa, M Galadima, ànd AP Ahmadu.

In the same Vein, The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Taoreed Lagbaja stressed that  beneficiaries  are chosen base on  their hard work and dediction to duty.

He said the system frowns at incompetence hence the need to give in their best hence they attained the level of policy formation in the Nigerian Army.

He congratulated the beneficiaries on their well deserved elevation also thanked their spouses for their support in keeping the home front safe.

He urged them to be logical and objective in their professional conduct for effective performance.

Constitutional Responsibilities
within a Joint Environment”he said.

COAS thanked mr President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his strategic guidance and support to the Nigerian Army and pledged the unflinching loyalty of the Nigerian Army personnel to the constituted authority.

He also thanked him for creating an enabling environment, guidance and support for the COAS guidance and support to steer the affairs of the Nigerian Army as the Army Chief.

He stated that, a total of 47 Brigadier Generals were promoted to the rank of Major General, while 75 Colonels were elevated to the rank of Brigadier General.

COAS congratulated the promoted officers and urged those who did not get the promotion to continue to work hard with positive attitude
