Hon. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, CON, FCIArb(UK) has expressed FG desire to fix infrastructures at the Nation’s Airports.
Speaking during a facility tour to the Nnamidi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja, on Tuesday, 5th September, 2023 Keyamo expressed displeasure at the status of the various infrastructures at airports and specifically identify three of such that needs urgent attention as; cooling system, lifts/escalators and carrousel for conveyor belts.
“these are things visitors coming into the country expect to enjoy when they arrived at any airport, local or International”.
The Minister directed that the infrastructure that are obsolete should undergo complete overhaul, while those infrastructures in bad shape should be put in good shape urgently. He stated that all that is required is a good maintenance culture.
While inspecting the second run way site, the minister said, compensation for the settlers by Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA), has commenced and very soon work will start at the site.
“You remember the other time, when there was a problem with the Abuja runway, we all had to go to Kaduna in a very inconvenient manner to board our plane, he said.
“So, the second runway, which is a gateway to Abuja, is extremely important. I pray that all agencies of government, the National Assembly, the Presidency, will give us the support to make sure we deliver that project within 12 months.”he said.
