NIGERIAN INSTITUTION OF METALLURGICAL, MINING AND MATERIALS ENGINEERS VISITS NBRRI.

The national executive members of the Nigerian Institution of Metallurgical, Mining and Materials Engineers (NIMMME) on 23rd March 2022, paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute Administrative Headquarters in Abuja.
The Nigerian Institution of Metallurgical, Mining and Materials Engineers is a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers which has been in existence for over two decades and was set up to carter for engineering professional graduates, trained in Metallurgy, Mining and Materials and related disciplines such as ceramics Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Textile Engineering, Foundry Engineering, etc. It oversees and carters for the professional development needs of its members across the country through its various chapters in major cities and towns.


The delegation was received by the Director General/Chief Executive Officer of NBRRI Prof. Samson Duna, along with other principal officers of the institute.


Speaking during the visit, the National Chairman of NIMMME, Engr Prof. Aje Tokeun congratulated the institute for clinching the 2nd position at the just concluded Science, Technology and Innovation Expo.

He applauded the DG/CEO for his continuous contributions to the growth of the Building and Road construction sectors of the country’s economy. He also commended the management and staff of the institute for their positive input and hard work towards the growth and capacity building in the country for national development and mentioned that NBRRI is doing great as it seeks to get involved in the characterization of the Engineering sector for national development.


Speaking further, Prof. Aje also stated that the purpose for the visit is to seek partnership and collaboration with NBRRI in areas of Metallurgy, Mining, Sourcing and Conversion of Raw Materials to Construction Products. He then used this means to invite the DG and Management to their Investiture of the newly elected national executives of NIMMME scheduled to take place on the 21st of April, 2022 at the conference hall of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Abuja.
In response, the DG/CEO of NBRRI, Prof. Samson Duna appreciated the members of NIMMME for finding the institute worthy of visiting and for striving to make the country better. He briefly listed the achievements of NBRRI so far and also mentioned some of the institute’s innovations and inventions which include the compressed earth blocks, pozzolana plant amongst other things. The DG/CEO stated that it will be a privileged for NBRRI to partner with NIMMME. He concluded that NBRRI is set to intervene in all possible areas of development to make housing and construction available and affordable and in turn, making the Nigerian Construction Industry a place for all.
