NCC Outlines 7 Common Causes Of Data Depletion.

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has explained common causes of data depletion. In a statement, the NCC said one of the causes upload and download of media files. According to the NCC, upload and downloading of pictures, documents, video and other forms of electronic media contributes greatly to data depletion, especially on mobile devices.

The NCC made it clear that the larger the files, the more the data you will likely consume. Internet browsing is another issue. According to NCC, websites do not have an equal effect on your data consumption, adding that the more pictures,  videos or graphics on the websites visited,  the more the data that is used.

Instant messaging is another factor responsible for data depletion. According to the NCC,  your WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Snapchat and other instant messaging apps deplete you internet data to the degree to which you utilized them.

Streaming is another factor. According to the NCC, streaming is one of the most common  causes of data depletion. The NCC is of the view that streaming video and audio content on You Tube, Hulu, Netflix and channels can quickly consume your data within very short period of time.

Online gaming is another cause of data depletion. The NCC noted that games use a lot more data than most people imagine due to the intense graphics and algorithms that power them.

The other cause of data depletion is Social Media Apps. According to the NCC,  social media applications such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter and Instagram are constantly engaged in  uploads and download of information from the internet in order to stay updated in real time, this development, the NCC said constituted a huge opportunity for data depletion.

Video conferencing is another factor responsible for data depletion. The NCC said that videos are usually a very heavy media format to transmit, and so online conferencing and internet calls  often consume huge data when a video stream is being  used.
