Sylva Bags Gas Person of The Year Award: Commended For Nigeria’s Gas Renaissance.
In acknowledgement of his astute drives at revamping the Nigeria’s Gas Sector amongst others landmark initiatives, the Honorable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Chief Timipre Sylva has been named as the Gas Person of the Year.
The award was bestowed on the Minister by Nigeria’s apex umbrella association for stakeholders in Nigerian gas sector within the best Nigerian oil and gas industry, The Nigerian Gas Association (NGA) at it’s 12th National Conference and awards held recently in Abuja.
In a statement at the event which was largely Virtual, the President of NGA, Mrs. Audrey Joe-Ezigbo said the choice of Sylva for the award was in recognition of the pioneering, bold and creative adventures he has initiated toward optimum utilization of the country’s vast gas reserves.
She added: “we are delighted to inform you that you have been nominated to receive the NGA Industry Leadership Award (Gas Person of the Year) in recognition of your exemplary leadership, service and commitment to the development of the Nigerian Gas Industry.
In his submission at NGA’s virtual award presentation and lectures, Sylva commended the event’s rich content. He opined that the 12th NGA International Conference has been a worthwhile gathering of Industry professionals and stakeholders doing justice to the theme; “Powering Forward: Enabling Nigeria’s Industrialization Via Gas”
Speaking further, the Minister affirmed that virtually all the presentations and panel discussions were excellently delivered and proffering workable strategies on how to change the narrative of Nigeria’s economy through her abundant gas resources.
Sylva enthused that he was delighted that our drive for gas penetration through the National Gas Expansion Programme has now developed to execution stage with the backing of private investors and associations as the Nigerian Gas Association.
On the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), Sylva restated the commitment of the Federal Government to its speedy passage which will ultimately guarantee an investor friendly, market-led gas pricing structure that will ensure the willing-buyer-willing-seller regime canvassed throughout the summit.
The Honorable Minister thanked the NGA for the award and pledged his resolve for a gas-powered Nigeria in tandem with President Mohammadu Buhari’s drive for Industrialization through gas.
