It was towards the close of work on Friday, 20th November, 2020, when a delegation of the COALITION OF ONLINE MEDIA ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA, (COMAN) led by Mr. Frederick Ideha walked into the office of Hon. Olaifa Jimoh Aremu, the Honorable Member representing the people of EgbadoNorth/Imeko Afon Federal Constituency, Ogun State to present to him an award of Excellence.
This was revealed in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja by the Senior Legislative Aide to the lawmaker, Mr Wale Junaid.
In the words of the leader of the delegation, Hon. Olaifa has dignified our democratic system by being a representative with a mission and vision as they have been monitoring his performance which they consider worthy and highly impressive, especially from a first time representative like Hon. Olaifa. For them, awards are not to be sold but are to be given and presented to deserving members of the society especially those in the leadership who have contributed immensely to society good. This is why they have singled Hon. Olaifa out of the lot as he has been outstanding in character, conduct and performance.
While appreciating the Coalition for their consideration of him for the award, the amiable, calm and soft-spoken people’s representative recalled how his Senior Legislative Aide was instrumental to his acceptance of the award as it’s not in his character to get so attracted to awards. He said he still has cartons of awards he has not opened in his Lagos home since they were presented to him in his Union days as leader of the Nigerian Union of Teachers.
He expressed his profound gratitude to the Association for digging deep and unearthing his profile, pedigree, performance, projects and programmes both executed and ongoing in his Federal Constituency, and his robust contributions on the floor of the Green Chamber. For him, more works are in the pipeline for his people. He prayed for a more stable economy in the years ahead for him to be able to do more.
The Association sought for a better collaboration, synergy and interaction between the legislature and the media for the purpose of projecting the performance of the former.
Finally, Hon. Olaifa Jimoh Aremu popularly called OJA by his admirers assured the team of his readiness to create a healthier and better platform for closer ties in the months ahead.
Group photographs were taken at the end of the interactive session and award presentation.
