Award Is Not A Regular Occurence Neither Is It Meant For Everybody -Hon. Olaifa.
The legislator representing Egbado North and Imeko Afon Federal constituency of Ogun State in the National Assembly, Abuja Hon. Olaifa Jimoh Oja says he feels honored to be awarded by the Coalition of Online Media Association of Nigeria (COMAN) for being selfless in the services he renders to his people and humanity.
The Green Chamber Legislator,Hon. Olaifa said this while fielding questions from Journalists in Abuja on how he feels being awarded today as a result of his outstanding performance.
He said he feels good because awards like this don’t come easily being that award of excellence shouldn’t be bought but earned.
“Well I couldn’t feel otherwise than being highly honoured.
Awards is not a regular occurrence,and it is not meant for almost everybody. You must have taken time to go into some research before you arrived at this conclusion. ‘That’s okay, let’s go and give so and so person an award’ so I feel honoured.
“Even though i am not always enticed by awards, I have collect even more than enough as a labour leader, I have collected many back in Lagos state. I don’t have enough space to display them so they are still parked in Cartons. But then, if you offer me this type of a thing why should i reject it? My PA has been on my neck, that these people are so special. They are not among the people who sell awards.”
The Congress man, Olaifa further explains that why he is not always enticed by awards remains the fact that he is on a representative capacity in the Lower Chamber of the National Assembly whereupon an award that entices him may not impress his constituents as what concerns his people only revolves around his knowledgeability and determination in bringing the dividends of democracy back home and ensuring that the presence of government is felt bountifully at the grassroot level.
“Those who were here before me, they read them well, they knew them
and are playing along with them but i have insisted by my assumption of office that the Peruvian shift must be theirs. We must have to stop this syndrome of business as usual. So my style is quite different from theirs. They are not finding it easy i must confessed and I know. For example, you can imagine people coming around to tell you that you are too truthful, what could be more embracing than that, that I tell the truth too much, i should try to be telling lies. I will say tell lies me? I wouldn’t do that for any amount, I wouldn’t tell lies. I like to tell people what they should hear, not what they want to hear.He said.
